The lovely Samantha from work requested a card for a friend of hers who runs a B&B on the Isle of Man and is a big fan of the TT.
The card is an 8x8" covered with another set of papers from my vast collection, I think more DCWV but I'm not 100% sure. I printed some photographs from the internet and created a background panel and used a template to cut the 60 out of glittered card stock and edged it with red stickles.
The letters are from the Sizzix Cherish Alphabet which I won recently in an e-bay auction - lucky me - at a very good price.
The T was reversed to fit better onto the panel and all were covered with Glossy Accents.
A ribbon tie was added along with some Candi to finish.
It couldn't be too deep as she has to take it by plane :)
Have a lovely break Samantha and I hope Heather has a fab birthday.
With Father's Day fast approaching, I've begun to make some cards to sell at work, here are the first ones.
A 6x6" card with papers from my collection, I stamped and coloured the image, a Penny Black stamp, with Copics and cut out. The banner was made with Clarity Stamps Alphabet collection and "tied" to the back of the plane. The Happy Father's Day message was free with a recent magazine.
Some twine tied around the spine finished the card.
I was really pleased with the way the swirls on the background paper look like the trails from the plane.
The second is again 6x6" but scalloped this time. Papers from my stash as before.
I tied the twine so that it nestles on the scallops creating a crossover with the knot.
The beach hut stamp was also free with the magazine.
The images were coloured with Copics, cut out and layered.
This month we are featuring a lovely layout by Delaina Burns which had hand-stitched frames.
My version is made with October Afternoon, Farm Girl papers.
Rose trellis paper by 1” from outer edge. Cut cream puff bazzill to 11” square,
place template onto the centre and prick though holes marked around the edge.
Re-position and repeat. (I made my template by drawing a 20cm square onto scrap
paper and marking at 1cm intervals. I then cut it just larger than the square
for ease of placement). Backstitch with the DMC thread, I used all 6 strands.
onto the Rose Trellis base. Cut Pie Tin to 8x4”, Mason Jar to 2 x 8 ½“ and Patchwork to 6 x
4”, distress edges and add to centre of stitched area along with photograph –
mine is 6x4 which has been trimmed and distressed. I folded back the edges of
the thinner strip.
one edge of the remaining Rose Trellis paper with the Martha Stewart Deco Edge
punch, cut into 2 and pleat gently. Add under either side of the photo. Cut a
couple of the circles from Patchwork and stamp with the “I think” journaling
stamp, add words then add with 3d foam to the left of the photo. I added my
pins here too securing with the foam pads. Punch 3 retro daisies from the Rose
Trellis, edge with a fine liner, curl the petals and add to the bottom right of
the photograph. Add tulip mulberry flowers and more punched flowers and
Place the remaining blooms
around the journaling area.
coiled the rose wires but cut the others off. Add a selection of punched leaves
a variety of butterflies. I have used the Martha Stewart Monarch to create a
double shadow layer and used the wires from the yellow blooms to create
antennae. Stickles were added to the other butterfly bodies.
As usual our sketch and Delaina's original layout...
